Animals in Entertainment

Animals are used in many ways to entertain humans: in circuses, rodeos, zoos, aquaria, and many other areas. We light-heartedly call it amusement or sport, but for the animals, it is a pathetic life filled with deprivation, stress, cruelty, confinement, terror, loneliness, and boredom. Using animals in entertainment promotes the notion that they are here for human amusement, whether it be donkey basketball, pig wrestling, or mule diving. It teaches children to look at animals as objects and to be insensitive toward their needs and wants. Unfortunately, as long as the abuse is not done in public and people don't see the dreary day-to-day existence, humans are resistant to admit that these animals are victims of cruelty and greed. CFA opposes the use of animals for the sake of entertainment and supports the practice of keeping them in their natural habitat free from harassment.
